Why We Built This

Sterk & Stout started around the braai — like most good things do.

I got tired of the same story every time. Plastic spice bottles lying around, labels peeling, things breaking, getting replaced… nothing that actually felt like it belonged next to a proper fire.

It didn’t sit right.

Because a braai isn’t just cooking — it’s time with people, it’s ritual, it’s something we take pride in. So why were the tools always disposable?

That’s where this started.

I didn’t want to create another spice brand.
I wanted to build something that lasts.

Something you keep next to your braai. Something that looks right, feels solid, and gets better over time.

So we built the braai kit.

Solid wood. A perspex lid. Laser-etched aluminium tins.
No plastic. No throwaway parts. Just something that’s made to be used — again and again.

The spices are there to be enjoyed, but they’re not the point.

Because once you’ve got the kit, you don’t start over.
You refill it. You keep using it. It becomes part of your setup.

That’s what Sterk & Stout is about.

Not convenience.
Not mass production.
Just doing things properly.
